Recording Your Results on SugarWOD

One of the things that sets CrossFit apart from other gyms is the use of the ‘whiteboard’ to record your WOD results. Some gyms do record results on an actual whiteboard, but at CrossFit Kantok we use an app instead. When you first join a CrossFit gym, this can be a bit of a scary thing to do, as though you’re being compared to experienced athletes right from your first workout.  – This first appearance couldn’t be more wrong. The purpose of recording your scores is way more positive than that! SugarWOD brings a sense of community, motivation, and organization to your CrossFit journey. It enables you to monitor progress, set goals, and celebrate achievements.

Sugar WOD allows you to record your results and add comments. This allows you to track your progress and add comments about any scaling. You can comment on how you feel you went in your workout and add in anything you want to remember to work on. Recording your lifts allows you to work accurately with your percentages on heavy days and track yourself becoming stronger.

Sugar WOD does show results as a leader board, but this shouldn’t be an intimidating experience. While there are some CrossFitters who are allrounders, most of us will have strengths and weaknesses. This means your position on that leader board is going to change all the time. Not to mention the leader board will show all the scores, regardless of age, or time doing CrossFit. The purpose is not to judge yourself against everybody else, but there is nothing wrong with looking at the scores of people with similar abilities to you and setting goals – thankfully the 5am crew are a pretty talented bunch, so anyone who takes a peek at the results from the morning session will have some pretty tough goals to aim for that afternoon!

Other people aren’t the only source of inspiration on SugarWod though, by clicking on the prepare tab, you can see your past performances for that WOD. You can also look back at your lifts on your profile. Studies show that your mind will tell you that you can’t do something long before your body will, so knowing you can lift a weight or wanting to better your last performance can be really strong motivators.

Finally, like most things in CrossFit, SugarWOD is about community. The comments aren’t just for you – you can give a fist pump or a celebratory comment to other members and everyone loves to have an achievement, or a big effort celebrated!
