September School Holiday Program

If you want to know about the benefits of regular exercise for kids you only need to spend a few minutes online to work it out. No question. Most agree that it’s especially important at this time given everything going on around us. Look into this a little deeper, and there’s also some really good research out there, about how regular exercise helps kids to develop their self-esteem, confidence and wider social networks. Even better when those social networks aren’t online, and the thing that brings everyone together is a focus on good health and fitness.

Kids in our gym learn about this from an early age because they mostly tag along with their parents and watch them work out. Osmosis. They soak up the vibe and the activity, and positivity that is a big part of it. It’s not surprising then to eventually see some of them start working out along side Mum or Dad. Usually once they’ve turned 15.

But that doesn’t mean that we can’t start them any earlier. A lot earlier in fact. For the really young ones fitness needs to be fun. So this is the focus of classes for kids. Games that allow them to express themselves through the entire range of all movement patterns. Squats. Running. Jumping. Crawling. Lifting. They can get it all done without even realising it.

For the older Youth category, it’s all about developing confidence, and understanding that success is a direct consequence of effort. They’re older (10yrs +) so we need to give them challenges that are achievable, but also never easy to achieve. It’s important to draw a line between cause and effect for them because they’re the target of direct marketing that aims to develop a dependence on comfort. The easy options. eg. why pack a healthy lunch for school when the school canteen has doughnuts!
